Allie Billups

President

"Delta Gamma is not just an organization to be a part of. Delta Gamma wants to be apart of you. As a Delta Gamma woman you are equipped with tools that will help you to excel in the world inside and outside of college. Delta Gamma has invested more into me than I could ever give back to her. From sending me to three different leadership conferences, to granting me a scholarship to help pay for school, to giving me the tools that I need to have people skills in the business world. Delta Gamma's has set high standards for her members, which have shaped me into the woman that I am today."

Favorite DG memory: A couple weeks after I received my bid from Delta Gamma - Eta Omicron, I got invited by my big (who wasn't my big at the time) to go to a concert. Her boyfriend worked there and had gotten us tickets. We spent the whole car ride there and back talking about life in general and what it meant to be a Delta Gamma woman. She made such a normal action a deep and intentional conversation. Now, I know that no matter where we are around the world, we will always be a phone call away. Going into recruitment, I could never expect what it is to be a part of a sisterhood like ours, but now that I am a part of Delta Gamma - Eta Omicron, it is like coming home every Monday when we sit down together and have chapter. These women are my sisters.

vp: member education

"This is actually the first position I have held in DG. I joined as a sophomore, and I wanted a year of learning more about Delta Gamma and how all the positions worked before I committed to taking anything on. I also wanted to make sure I had a good handle on nursing school so that I wouldn't be overwhelmed with the combination of classwork and the responsibility of a position."

  • Year: Senior
  • Major: Nursing
  • Email: hhayes01@g.uafs.edu
  • Other campus involvement: President of the Student Nurses' Association, Alpha Lambda Delta, Honors International Studies Program
  • About her position: I consider my position to be a really fun one because I get to plan the two best days of the year in sorority world, Bid Day and Big/Little Reveal. Bid Day is like a huge celebration where we get to welcome our new sisters and get excited for the fun
  • Favorite Delta Gamma Memory: My favorite memory would have to be getting my bid. Shocker, I know. I was so excited when I opened it up to see "Delta Gamma". I ran to my new sisters and immediately started crying, which is something I normally would NEVER do.

vp: membership

As vp: membership, my main role is to bring in new sisters to our sisterhood! My incredible team and I are in charge of coordinating and executing both Formal and Informal Recruitment! However, what is so special about my position is that I am able to bring our sisters together and facilitate a conversation to identify our strengths and where we have room to grow. It is always such a great bonding experience to highlight our women, the great works they do, and the incredible characters they all have. There was one day in my first semester as a Delta Gamma that has defined exactly what DG is for me. We were at a sisterhood retreat, and there wasn't anything significant happening. We were all just sitting around talking and laughing. Mainly, I was listening with such attentiveness to the seniors who were soon to graduate reminisce about their "good ole days". All I can remember is listening to these women, who I admired so dearly, and thinking "I want this." I yearned for those stories and experience, for love and passion, for priceless bonds with such strong, hardworking women. That's been my goal and vision for my life as a DeeGee--to live and laugh and love as much and as well as the sisters who came before me.
